 In December 1978 the company “Azor fábrica de cometas” was founded. Main purposes were production and design of kites as well as the adaptation and introduction of new materials for these sporting and recreational goods. This resulted in the use of nylon as a replacement of plastic, paper and cotton, which were on the market since more than 30 years.
As a result of this, we got contract to wholesale in the USA; after a short time we had shares in a company called “Spectra Star kite”. In 1981 we sold our shares and came back to Spain, where the company “Cometas Eolo, S.A.” was founded.
This new company focused on the production of nylon kites, both stunt, children and promotional kites. An agency network with around 20 representatives was created in Spain; at the same time, we also started exporting to some countries of the 80’s Europe.
In 1984 the world’s biggest plastic kite manufactory -“Gayla Industries,Inc.”- showed interest in purchasing our company, and though we did not accepted this proposal, we consented to create a Joint-Venture. This finally occurred in 1985, with 50/50% stock for each party. From then on our company was called “Eolo-Gayla Industries, S.A.”
We wrote the next passages of our history by launching our North American partner’s products in the European market and designing a complete line of our nylon products for the American one. We kept on increasing exports, these almost reached 80% of our sales. At this point in our history we were awarded the “Premio Asturcón De Oro a la Exportación” (“Gold Asturcon Export Award”). We then went on to the production of paraglidings; we also were awarded in this area, this time with the “Premio Mieres del camino al mejor Diseño Industrial” (“Mieres del Camino Award for the Best Industrial Design”) for the development of our Sirocco paragliding, point of reference in all paragliding schools for many years.
One year later we purchased the company “ACE Remace”, counting more than 30 years on the market already by that time.
 Later on and due to competitivity reasons, we decided to move part of our production to the Far East.
But it is now that -after a series of events, great efforts, problems, pleasures and displeasures- new, healthy and great goals and dreams have come true.
We have recently bought the shares of our former North American partner, becoming this now a 100% Spanish a family owned company: “Eolo-Sport Industrias, S.A.”.
A subsidiary in Hong Kong called “Eolo Sport HK Ltd.” –with offices in the referred city and Chinese staff- has been opened.
And last but no least, we have purchased the prestigious French kite manufactory as well as our greatest competitor in that country “Paimpol Voiles” , counting more than 28 years on the market and owning remarkable technological resources.
Eolo Sport Industrias, S.A. is currently present in more than 50 countries, sharing joy with millions of people worldwide.
